The NIE number -Número de Identidad de Extranjero- is a personal and unique number, issued once and for all, which every foreigner residing in Spain
must have in order to identify, inter alia, in case of:

• Legalization of stay or residence in the territory of Spain.

• Opening a bank account.

• Renting or buying a flat / real estate.

• Buying / selling a car.

• Business assumptions (assumptions or purchase ready  commercial companies, establishing a sole proprietorship  business, registration in Seguridad Social).

• Conclusion of an employment contract / employment.

• Conclusion of a contract with a supplier of electricity, gas, water, Internet / TV.

• Acceptance of inheritance in Valencia

Obtaining a NIE number is the first and most important formality that should be completed in order to be able to fully enjoy a number of rights and facilities related to staying and living in Spain.
